Privacy policy
campspec has no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no comments. It does not ask for personal information, and it does not sell, rent or share any. Personal information that does reach it is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What is collected when the site is visited
- Server logs. The company that hosts the site records the standard details of each request: IP address, browser and device type, the page asked for, the page that linked to it, and the time. They are used to serve the site and protect it from abuse, not to identify visitors.
- Analytics. The site runs no analytics and sets no cookies of its own.
- Table filters. Filters chosen in a table are written into the page address so a view can be shared. Like any address, it appears in the server logs.
- Product pictures. Some product pictures load directly from an affiliate network's image server (Commission Factory) rather than from this site, so that server receives the standard request details a browser sends with any picture.
After a retailer link is followed
A link that can earn a commission passes through the retailer's affiliate network (Commission Factory and Impact). The network and the retailer may set cookies to record that the visit came from campspec, so a sale can be credited. The link carries an identifier for campspec, never one for the reader. Once on the retailer's site, its own privacy policy applies, along with the network's. The affiliate and earnings disclosure covers how commissions work.
Email sent to campspec is used to reply and to act on what it reports, and is kept only as long as that takes. It is not added to any mailing list.
Storage outside Australia
The hosting company and the affiliate networks may store the details above on servers outside Australia, including in the United States.
Access, correction and complaints
Anyone can ask what personal information campspec holds about them, ask for it to be corrected, or make a privacy complaint, by email to the address on the contact page. A complaint gets a reply within 30 days. A complaint that is not resolved can be taken to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Changes
This policy changes when the site's practices do. The date at the top is the last change.
